Eco Friendly Paradise

The word paradise is defined as ‘an ideal or idyllic place or state’ & I can think of no better word to use to describe the Banyan Tree Resort in the Seychelles. There are so many reasons why we fell in love with this resort. Not only are the beaches pristine, the Banyan Tree Seychelles have an inspiring commitment to being eco-friendly, gorgeous vegan food options, cruelty free spa treatments & an onsite conservation & rehabilitation center for local wildlife – heaven or what!?

The Resort has a number of villas available. We stayed in the Sanctuary Ocean View Pool Villa which was just gorgeous. Situated on the hillside, our villa was totally secluded surrounded by forest & looking down on the pristine beaches. We had our own private pool & outdoor jacuzzi.

We were lucky enough to check out the spa, which was hands down our best couples spa trip ever. Upon arriving at the spa, we picked our treatments with the help of very knowledgeable therapists (always a plus), the spa itself is simply stunning, open veranda style with gorgeous views of the ocean & forests with beautiful floral décor.

The spa treatment room is OUT.OF.THIS.WORLD.

We were led through the spa gardens & upstairs to an open roof treatment area. I cannot put into words how beautiful the experience was, no need for music as we lay outdoors listening to the crashing waves & the birds.

The relaxation didn’t finish after the massage, our therapists prepared us some tea (complimenting the treatments we chose) & some fresh fruits & left us to enjoy these enjoying the gorgeous view some more. None of the products used are tested on animals & I even bought one of their hair masks to take home with me – the stuff was that good. It is clear to see why this spa is an award winner!

how gorgeous is this spa though!?
best shower ever 😉

When it comes to food at the Banyan Tree Resort Seychelles, there were plenty of vegan options available. The breakfast buffet offered veggie cooked breakfast options such as beans, potatoes, tomatoes, mushrooms & so on, as well as amazing fruit platters & the chefs were kind enough to make me avocado toast & provide me with soy milk. The resort boasts possibly the best Thai restraunt I have ever been to, Saffron, where again the staff were knowledgable & were able to not only meet but exceed my requirements. We had amazing veggie spring rolls & I 100% recommend the vegan pad Thai! One evening the hotel held a drinks & nibble reception prior to dinner & were more than happy to bring me a little vegan platter with fries, Mexican wraps and veggies – yum!

Another reason we fell in love with the Banyan Tree Seychelles resort, is the Banyan Tree Turtle & Terrapin Project & Wildlife Conservation & Rehabilitation Centre. The project started in 2014 & aims to ensure the conservation of 2 critically endangered species inhabiting the resort, the Hawksbill Turtle & the Freshwater Terrapin. Not only do the staff work to monitor the numbers of these species, they provide vet care & visit schools to educate locals on the importance of conversation. The Wildlife Conservation & Rehabilitation Centre is open to visitors & we enjoyed learning about this amazing project & getting to opportunity to see these cool Terrapins up close.

It is easy to see why Banyan Tree Seychelles won a number of awards such as ‘Leading Green Resort’ & ‘Green Planet Award’ – they have so many values surrounding sustainability & eco-tourism.

‘Banyan Tree was founded with the core values of driving sustainable development. As a global hospitality group operating in diverse locations, Banyan Tree’s concept of sustainability seeks to create long term value for multiple stakeholders and destinations. The company’s triple bottom line of economic, social and environmental success helps direct sustainable development by aiming to inspire associates, guests, and partners to take a wider consideration encompassing a long-term view when making business decisions.’ –banyantreeglobalfoundation.com

The Banyan Tree Resort at the Seychelles is a little piece of eco-friendly paradise & I can only hope that more resorts follow in their footsteps. Banyan Tree lead by example when it comes to eco-tourism, supporting local communities & wildlife, using local produce in their spa & sustainable materials to build their resort. This resort was beautiful in so many ways, beautiful food,& beaches & most importantly beautiful values.

I really do believe that by visiting eco-friendly resorts such as Banyan Tree we are playing a part in making a difference. So, if you are looking for a gorgeous eco-friendly resort with fab vegan options & an out of this world spa, be sure to check out Banyan Tree Seychelles! Jess xox
